The Chicago White Sox are not expected to have left hander Chris Sale on the mound come Opening Day.
Sale suffered a fracture in his right foot back on Feb. 27 while at his home and is expected to be shut down for another two weeks. CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman reports that there has been no indication that Sale will be ready for the start of the season.
The 25-year-old Sale is a Cy Young candidate when healthy and his absence would be a blow to the White Sox early.
In 26 starts last season Sale was 12-4 with a 2.17 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP.
