Joey Logano won Sunday’s running of the Daytona 500. A former quarter midget star from Connecticut, the win was the ninth of his career.
After 200 laps of racing at the 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway the driver of the No. 22 Ford Fusion crossed the finish line ahead of Kevin Harvick.
Beginning the race on the pole was Jeff Gordon who was running his last Daytona 500 as a full time driver.
One driver who had a bad day was Tony Stewart who hit some dirty air and then the wall. Also collected in the incident was Matt Kenseth. With 40 laps to go Brad Keselowski’s chances of winning went up in smoke as he lost a motor.
A late race caution stacked up the field as they completed the last lap a slue of cars wrecked in the back stretch allowing Logano and Harvick to race back to the checkered flag.
