DeMarco Murray led the NFL in rushing this season. Murray’s contact with the Cowboys is up and while the team would like to see him return they are not prepared to break the bank to keep him.

With the Cowboys also attempting to lock up star wide receiver Dez Byrant one of their offensive weapons from the 2014 season could be left out. It could be Murray.

The Cowboys have reportedly had a four year deal out for Murray which could be worth as much as $16 million though the back is believed to be holding out a deal with more guaranteed money that rivals deals given to LeSean McCoy, Arian Foster and Adrian Peterson. All three of them received deals with $20 million guaranteed.

For what it is worth the Cowboys do not currently consider Joseph Randle the successor to Murray.

Broncos feel good about Brock Osweiler

If Peyton Manning does not return to the Broncos next season it could be Brock Osweiler’s offense to run.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that sources see Osweiler as a guy who could run the offense going forward writing:

The reviews internally on Brock Osweiler are high, so if Peyton Manning does not come back, they do feel confident that they have a quarterback who can step in and have some level of success in there after Peyton Manning, whenever he does decide to retire.

Osweiler was selected in the 2012 NFL Draft, the same year Manning joined the Broncos. The second-round pick has not seen  much playing time going 17-of-30 for 159 yards and a touchdown this season.

Aside from the Manning question the Broncos will have to work out new contracts with Demaryius Thomas and Julius Thomas.
