The Marlins are still hopeful that starting pitcher Dan Haren will rescind his trade demands and pitch for them during the 2015 season.
Haren, 34, previously informed the Dodgers that he would only pitch in southern California during the 2015 season. Despite that threat the Marlins acquired him and $10 million to offset his salary for the upcoming season.
Since the trade Haren has held out hope that he will be traded back to the west coast. There had been interest from the Giants, Padres and Rockies but nothing seems close to happening. Joe Frisaro of MLB.com confirmed as much in his recent blog posting.
Haren will soon have have to make a decision. With his trade value limited by his demands, the Marlins may need him to pitch this spring to get anything in return.
Haren was 13-11 with a 4.02 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP last season across 32 starts.
