Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings has been arrested on Wednesday on charges of DUI, reckless driving and speeding, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Jennings, 31, was pulled over after being clocked at 99 mph in a 65 mph zone in Georgia. The officer who pulled Jennings over smelled an alcoholic odor while approaching Jennings. Following an investigation Jennings was placed under arrest and taken to Gwinnett County Detention Center.
The Bears recently released a statement on the incident:
“We are aware of the reports regarding Tim Jennings’ arrest. We are currently gathering information to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the situation.”
The Bears signed Jennings to a four-year, $22.4 million extension last January. He recorded 50 tackles, seven pass breakups and one forced fumble during the team’s 2014 campaign.
