It was always viewed as a long shot but Eagles head coach Chip Kelly confirmed that Nick Foles would not return for the team’s Week 16 game against the Redskins.
Foles’ absence means the Eagles will again have Mark Sanchez on the field at quarterback. Sanchez has struggled in recent weeks including in Sunday night’s loss to the Cowboys which dropped the Eagles to 9-5 on the season. Still he stands a reasonable chance of being the latest NFL quarterback to pick apart a suspect Redskins secondary.

If there is a silver lining it is that the Eagles did not say anything to suggest that Foles’ recovery had been hampered.
Prior to going down Foles played in eight games completiting 59.8-percent of his passes for 2163 yards and a 13:10 touchdown to interception ratio.
