The Royals have signed relief pitcher Luke Hochevar to a two-year contract which carries a mutual option for 2017.

Hochevar will earn $10 million over the course of the next two seasons giving the Royals a right hander who had a 1.92 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 82/17 K/BB ratio in 70 1/3 innings in 2013.

Coming off of Tommy John surgery it is questionable as to when the former No. 1 overall pick Hochevar will be able to join the Royals.

The Royals exercised the option on reliever Wade Davis earlier this offseason giving him a bump to $7 million in salary. They currently are looking for someone to assume the rotation spot being vacated by free agent James Shields as well as someone to take over the DH role from the departing Billy Butler.
