A year after playing on a one year deal with the Orioles, Nelson Cruz has landed his big pay day.
Cruz has signed a four year deal with the Mariners worth $57 million.
Coming off a year in which he hit .271/.333/.525 with 40 home runs and 108 RBI in 159 games the 34-year-old Cruz will look to be the Mariners designated hitter this year providing much needed offense to a lineup that is bare save for Robinson Cano.
The Mariners did pursue Cruz last year with Cano going to bat for him at his press conference but he ended up signing with the Orioles, a move that may have netted him millions.

Cruz has always had a power stroke and things are doubtful to change too much in Seattle though the first couple of seasons. We have questions about the end of this deal but the Mariners seem to be getting a decent deal here with the $14.25 million annual salary./
