Nationals closing in on deal with Kevin Frandsen

The Washington Nationals are closing in on a new deal with infielder/outfielder Kevin Frandsen.

Frandsenis arbitration-eligible for the first time this year. He had been ticketed to earn $1.2 million in arbitration and currently it is unclear exactly what his new deal will cost the Nationals.

He proved to be somewhat useful last season playing the role of a utility man hitting .259/.299/.309 in 236 plate appearances.

The 32-year-old Frandsen has been around the majors dating back to 2006. He is a career .259/.313/.350 hitter with 15 home runs and 133 runs scored in 507 career games.
