DeMeco Ryans done for season, Nick Foles could be as well

On Monday the Philadelphia Eagles placed linebacker DeMeco Ryans on season ending injured reserve with a torn Achilles’ tendon suffered in Sunday’s win over Houston.

The loss of Ryans will create a soft spot in the Eagles run defense and results in a leadership void as well.

Former Jaguars safety Chris Prosinski has been signed to take Ryans spot on the roster. Ryans had 45 tackles, four pass breakups, and an interception on the season.

The news does not appear to be any better for quarterback Nick Foles who suffered a collarbone injury.

Jeff McLane believes that Mark Sanchez could be the Eagles’ starting quarterback for the rest of the season and “possibly the playoffs.”

He used the word possibly because the Eagles offensive unit takes a substantial hit with the loss of Foles. There have been rave reviews about Sanchez since he landed in Philadelphia so perhaps Chip Kelly finds some gold here. For now what was looking like another good season for the Eagles is full of questions.

Filling in for Foles, Sanchez was 15-of-22 for 202 yards while tossing two touchdowns and two interceptions on Sunday.
