Royals at Orioles: Game 1 of ALCS info, pitchers and lineups

The Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles will face each other in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series on Friday night.

Starting in the ALCS for the Royals will be “Big Game” James Shields while the Orioles send Chris Tillman to the mound.

Shields, 32, is headed towards free agency at the end of the Royals run, however he knows as well as anyone that big performances in the post season can add millions onto an upcoming contract.
Shields finished the 2014 season 14-8 with a 3.21 ERA but thus far has had mixed results in the post season. A shaky outing in the Wild Card game against Oakland was followed up by six strong innings against Los Angeles in which Shields allowed two runs and six hits while walking two and striking out six.
Oriole starter Tillman went five innings against the Tigers in the ALDS earning a win. His 2014 season resulted in a 13-6 record to go with a 3.34 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP.
Game 1 of the ALCS will air on TBS beginning at 8:00 pm ET and considering that both teams swept their ALDS opponents winning early in this series may prove to be key.
Thus far lineups have yet to be announced.
