On Thursday night Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton was carted off the field after he was hit in the face with a pitch.
Stanton was diagnosed with multiple facial fractures and also suffered some damage to his teeth after he was hit by a Mike Fiers pitch.
Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports passes along that Stanton wants to return prior to the end of the season.
Tooth lodged in cheek. Hole in lip so big doc's index finger fit in it. And get this: Giancarlo Stanton still wants to return this season.

Wanting to return and being given clearance to return are quite different. Stanton has a large contract waiting for him and as it was his 105 RBI were tops in the majors while his 37 homers led the NL.
If Stanton was somehow able to make it back on the field he surely would have some added facial protection.
