Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia could end his 2014 season early if he undergoes surgery on his left hand.
Pedroia has been bothered by an issue with his wrist/hand for much of the season compiling a .278/.337/.376 batting line with seven homers. The 31-year-old dealt with a left thumb issue in 2013.
Pedroia says surgery an option; a decision will likely be made Wednesday.

Should Pedroia undergo surgery it is not expected to prevent him from having a normal offseason.
A decision on Pedroia is expected to come Wednesday.
