Former BYU star Max Hall arrested for shoplifting and drug possession

Max Hall was one of BYU’s most storied quarterbacks was arrested Saturday for allegedly shoplifting and for drug possession.

Hall, 28, played in six games for the Arizona Cardinals in 2010 before his football career came to an end last June when he was let go by the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was arrested on Saturday at a Best Buy store in Gilbert, AZ after employees saw him taking items out of their packages and place them in a bag he was carrying.

“I’m really sorry, I’ll pay for the stuff. If I get arrested, I’ll get fired. I’ve never done this before,” Hall is quoted in the police report according to KSL.

All totaled Hall attempted to steal cell phone cases, chargers and other small electronic items from Best Buy and Wal-Mart which totaled around $280.

Hall was also found to be in the possession of two hypodermic needles, a metal spoon, a lighter and a “personal-use quantity of cocaine” stored in a pill bottle according to the police report.

Thus far no charges have been filed against Hall but misdemeanor shoplifting and felony drug charge could be coming.

Hall has been coaching as an offensive coordinator at Gilbert High School.
