Antony Browns quits USC, calls coach racist

Senior running back Anthony Brown has quit the USC football team calling head coach Steve Sarkisian racist on Thursday.

Brown first posted on Instagram on Thursday morning saying “Sark treated me like a slave in his Office…Can’t play for a racist MAN!!!!! #Fighton.” He added a similar message on his Facebook page.

The comments from Brown are the latest headlines involving USC who recently suspended cornerback Josh Shaw indefinitely for lying about how he injured his ankles.

Sarkisian says that Brown quit the USC football team last Thursday adding that the running back had never expressed any of his feelings to him when they spoke earlier this week.

“As far as what [Brown] said on Twitter, I think it’s ridiculous,” Sarkisian said. “Any of you guys that know me and if you ask anybody in our building, any of our players — feel free to — that’s about the furthest thing from the truth. Quite honestly, I’m shocked.”

“Anthony decided not to play football anymore,” Sarkisian added. “We obviously tried to encourage him not to quit. We thought he could be an asset to our team, especially when healthy. We really tried to make it a point to accommodate the position change he wanted. He wanted to move to running back and we did so.”
