Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said on Thursday that linebacker DeVonte Holloman’s NFL playing days are likely over following his latest neck injury.
Holloman, 23, was one option the Cowboys planned to use at middle linebacker with Sean Lee lost for the season. Th sixth-round pick in 2013 suffered a spinal contusion in practice last season missing seven games.

Holloman hurt his neck during Saturday night’s preseason game when a teammate made contact underneath his arm. In nine games last season he was in on 26 taackles and two sacks while also recovering one fumble.
While Holloman may not be a big name his loss is just another hit to a Cowboys defense which is already expected to be at the bottom of just about every defensive statistical category.
