With the recent trade of pitchers Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel it has been assumed by some that short stop Starlin Castro could be the next to go. That may not be the case reports David Lennon of New York Newsday.
Castro, 24, could be replaced by 20-year-old Addison Rusell who was acquired from Oakland for Samardzija and Hammel.
Lennon believes that the Cubs could transition Castro to third base which is interesting given that the Cubs have Kris Bryant moving towards that position.
Talked to source familiar with Cubs thinking. Said don’t expect Starlin Castro to be traded this season. Also could be moved to 3B for ’15.

Signed though 2019 with a club option for 2020 the Cubs are not in a situation where they have to move Castro so unless a deal blows them away there is a good chance he will stay with the club.
Castro is hitting .276/.326/.440 this season with 11 home runs and 52 RBI in 94 games.
