The New York Mets have placed pitcher Jon Niese on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder strain.
Niese was hit with a line drive in his last start but its his shoulder that will send him to the disabled list. Niese will undergo an MRI after seeing a drop in velocity during his last handful of starts.
#Mets officially calling Jon Niese's injury a left shoulder strain, for the record.

The Mets are listening to offers for Niese as the trade deadline approaches but given his team friendly deal there is no urgency to move the 27-year-old left hander.
In 17 starts this season Niese is 5-4 with a 2.96 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. He owns a 74/28 K/BB ratio on the season.
