The San Francisco Giants have removed Sergio Romo from the closers role.
Romo, 31, blew his fifth save of the season on Saturday. He has especially had a tough time recently allowing 9 runs in his last 4 1/3 innings of work. In his last five outings he has three blown saves and very well could have had more.

An All-Star a season ago it is not unreasonable to think that Romo could reclaim his job. For now the Giants will have to use Santiago Casilla and Jeremy Affeldt in the ninth inning.
On the season Romo has a 5.17 ERA but just a 1.02 WHIP and a 26/7 K/BB ratio. He had 22 saves.
