Needing a roster spot for the returning Clay Buchholz, the Boston Red Sox have designated relief pitcher Chris Capuano for assignment.
The left handed Capuano has done a great job resurrecting his career which was assumed to be over years ago. Still the 35 year old was mainly an afterthought in Boston posting a 4.55 ERA in 28 games mostly being used out of the bullpen.
With Capuano DFA'd Sox still have 13 pitchers.

Signed to a one-year deal worth $2.25 million over the winter, the Red Sox are not taking a significant hit by cutting ties with him t this point.
Someone will come along and give Capuano another chance this season. It is hard to imagine him being on the market for too long.
