According to Ken Rosenthal, the Marlins will place Gregg in the minors before calling him up in the 8-9 day window. The Marlins sent the No. 39 pick and its draft pool money to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Bryan Morris in order to make some budget room for Gregg. The No. 39 pick carried a $1.4 million value.

A season ago Gregg pitched in 62 games for the Chicago Cubs pickig up 33 saves along with a 3.48 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP. The 35-year-old Gregg pitched for the Marlins during the 2007 and 2008 seasons but its doubtful that had anything to do with his new deal.
Currently Steve Cishek has been serving as the Marlins closer. Cishek has done a good job saving 11 of 12 games wile posting a 2.78 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP. Opponents are hitting .229 against him.
