The Cincinnati Reds have signed pitcher Jair Jurrjens to a minor league deal.
Jurrjens, 28, appeared in just two games a season ago after landing a minor league deal with the Baltimore Orioles. He has appeared in just 13 games, 11 starts since the start of 2012.
Expectations should be tempered but it’s worth mentioning that Jurrjens was 50-38 with a 3.58 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP during his five seasons with the Atlanta Braves.
