Ah, make it stop already. The ongoing saga about the Houston Texans and New England Patriots backup quarterback Ryan Mallett continues.
After NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said that the Texans and Patriots had interest in working out a deal, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that a trade will not happen.
Texans will not be trading for Ryan Mallet.

McClain gained a little national attention after the draft when he ate the front page of the sports section once the Texans drafted Jadeveon Clowney at No. 1. It had been McClain’s belief that the team was going to draft a quarterback.
Currently the Texans have Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starter and Case Keenum remains on the roster. The team also drafted Tom Savage in the fourth round.
It is unclear if Mallett is even an upgrade at this point. If the Texans are focused on the abilities of Savage or looking towards next year’s draft then trading for Mallett would simply not make sense.
