A few weeks ago there were no reports of the St. Louis Rams selecting Johnny Manziel in the NFL Draft. Now various outlets are saying it is possible even as the Rams have Sam Bradford on their roster.
Peter King of SI’s MMQB believes the Rams like tackle Greg Robinson as the No. 2 pick ahead of wide receiver Sammy Watkins and tackle Jake Matthews but the door is open for the Rams at No. 13.
The Rams have been keeping an eye on Manziel and “would consider picking him” at No. 13 though it is debatable whether or not he would be on the board. This leaves open the chance of the Rams trading down from No. 2 or up from No. 13 in a move that would get them Maniel somewhere between the two.
King notes that with “Brian Schottenheimer running the show, (Manziel) was impressive, as was the 80-minute post-workout session in the meeting room with Schottenheimer and coach Jeff Fisher, among others.”
Rams general manager Les Snead also recently visited Kliff Kingsburgy and could believe that Manziel is NFL ready.
It is all up for debate but we are just a few days away from seeing how this plays out.
