NASCAR has announced the penalties for Sprint Cup Series drivers Marcos Ambrose and Casey Mears for their post-race altercation at Richmond International Raceway last Saturday.
Following the race the two drivers got into a heated argument that resulted in Mears aggressively pushing Ambrose before Ambrose punched Mears in the eye.
Both drivers were found to have violated Section 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing), and 12-4.9 (Behavioral Penalty; involved in an altercation in the garage area after the race) of the NASCAR rule book
Ambrose has been fined $25,000 while Mears was fined $15,000. Both drivers were played on probation until May 28.
