The San Francisco Giants have placed second baseman Marco Scutaro on the 15-day disabled list to begin the season.
Scutaro, 38, had been dealing with back troubles earlier this spring. It had been 50/50 whether or not Scutaro would be ready for Opening Day. Once his DL stint is up Scutaro is expected to rejoin the Giants.
Scutaro appeared in 127 games last season for the Giants hitting .297/.357/.369 with two home runs and 57 runs scored. He is coming off his first All-Star selection.
