Opening Day is just around the corner and major league teams are clearing roster spaces.

On Monday the Atlanta Braves released veteran right handed pitcher Freddy Garcia after the 37-year-old exercised his opt-out clause.

Garcia pitched his way out of the Braves thin rotation this spring posting a 4.76 ERA and 14/6 K/BB ratio in 17 innings. He now is able to sign with any team.

Splitting time between Baltimore and Atlanta, Garcia appeared in 17 games last season posting a 4.37 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP.

He will be joined on the market by another veteran in Aaron Harang.

Harang, 35, was told over the weekend that he was not going to make the Indians. He too opted out of his contract.

The right-handed Harang pitched better than Garcia this spring, sporting a 2.00 ERA in four outings. He should have little trouble in landing a new job.

Harang spent time last season with the Seattle Mariner and New York Mets finishing with a 5-12 record, 5.40 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP.
