Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Kris Medlen will miss the entire 2014 season as he undergoes Tommy John surgery on Tuesday.
Medlen had said that he was preparing for his second Tommy John surgery. He underwent his first in August of 2010. He missed the entire 2011 season.

The loss of the 28-year-old Medlen is a signifcant blow to the Braves. He was 15-12 with a 3.11 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP last season.
The Braves are expecting a similar fate with fellow starting pitcher Brandon Beachy who will seek a second opinion from Dr. Elattrache in Los Angeles tomorrow.
To counter the loss of Beachy and Medlen the Braves added Ervin Santana last week. General manager Frank Wren has maintained that no further moves would be made by the club.
