The Dallas Cowboys have signed former first round pick Brandon Weeden to a two-year deal according to ESPN Dallas.

Weeden, 30, was drafted in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns but was let go this offseason after posting a 5-15 record as a starter for the team under two different head coaches. Weeden threw 23 touchdowns and 26 interceptions during his two-year tenure with the Browns.

The Cowboys have been seeking another option behind quarterback Tony Romo in the event that backup Kyle Orton retires. Orton had a $3.25 million salary for the 2014 season which makes his retirement doubtful.

Dallas has not carried three quarterbacks on their roster since the 2011 season.
