San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey has added 10 pounds of muscle though an offseason training program.
Posey is hoping to avoid fatigue in the second half of the season in 2014. After a strong first half, Posey hit just .244/.333/.310 with just two homers and 16 RBI in 197 at-bats after the All-Star Game.
“As a competitor, you don’t want to use anything as an excuse,” he said on the eve of Saturday’s FanFest. “No matter how your body’s doing or how you’re feeling mentally, you should be able to find a way to get the job done.”
Overall Posey finished the 2013 season with a .294/.371/.450 line with 15 home runs and 72 RBI. In 2012 he led the NL with a .336 batting average and set career highs with 24 home runs and 103 RBI.
