Houston Astros prospect Mark Appel underwent an amergency appendectomy in Houston on Thursday according to MLB.com writer Brian McTaggart.
The 22-year-old Appel should be ready to go by the time Spring Training rolls away. He was the No. 1 overall pick of the Astros last June.

Last season Appel made two minor league stops making 10 starts between Tri-City and Quad Cities. There’s a good chance he could be called to the big leagues by mid-season.
