The Chicago Cubs and pitcher Travis Wood have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year deal.
Wood, 26, will earn $3.9 million during the 2014 season.
The left-handed Wood was eligible for arbitration for the first time this year after compiling a 3.11 ERA across 32 starts last season.
