Jason Bay unofficially retiring

Jason Bay has not filed any paperwork with MLB but the outfielder says it’s unlikely that he will play in 2014.

Bay, 35, appeared in 68 games with Seattle last season finishing with a .204/.298/.393 line, 11 home runs and 20 RBI.

The latest report came from Shi Davidi who says that Bay is unlikely to accept a previous contract from a Japanese team. No MLB teams are known to have contacted Bay.

If this is the end of the road for Bay he will end his career with a .266/./360/.481 line, 222 home runs and 754 RBI. He was a three time All-Star winning the NL Rookie of the Year award in 2004.
