Packers vs. 49ers could be coldest football game ever

Here’s something you hear just about every year. It will be cold in Green Bay for the Packers playoff game.

Of course this year, it could be the coldest. Ever.

The “Ice Bowl” is one of the most memorable games in NFL history, usually by people who were not there because those who were there are still defrosting. The temperate of the Ice Bowl was a record low -13 with the chill being -48 degress. The coldest game in terms of wind chill was the AFC title game between San Diego and Cincinnati in 1982 with the wind chill being -59 degress.

Those numbers could be topped on Sunday when the Green Bay Packers host the San Francisco 49ers for an NFC Wild Card game. The high in Green Bay on Sunday will be -5 while the low will reach -20 degress. To make matters worse, the wind chill could be -51 degrees.

Good news though for anyone who lives around Green Bay who did not buy tickets. The blackout has been avoided after the Packers sold their remaining tickets Friday morning.
