Yankees trying to trade Ichiro Suzuki

The New York Yankees signed Jacoby Ellsbury and Carlos Beltran to free agent deals in the last week. Now the Bronx Bombers have a surplus of outfielders and are trying to unload one of them.

While teams have called about Brett Gardner and Chad Jennings of the Journal News reports that the Yankees have spoken to teams about Ichiro Suzuki.

Suzuki, 40, is no longer the player he once was and is little more than a fourth outfielder at this point in his career. He can still play but his best asset may be as a clubhouse leader; ala follow this guy’s example.

Last season Suzuki hit .262/.297/.342 in 150 games. He is scheduled to make $6.5 million in 2104 which makes a trade difficult.
