The Miami Marlins were one of the teams most interested in signing Jarrod Saltalamacchia this winter. On Tuesday the club signed the backstop to a three-year deal worth $21 million.
All that is stopping the Marlins from announcing the deal is a physical.
Satalamacchia is from West Palm Beach and will earn $7 million a season after averaging .244/.306/.457 with 18 homers and 60 RBI during a three year stint in Boston. The Red Sox were interested in bringing Satalamacchia back but only wanted to offer the 28-year-old a two year deal. Boston has since signed A.J. Pierzynski.

No word yet if Satalamacchia got any form of no-trade clause.
