The Colorado Rockies want to bring back reliever Matt Belisle for the 2014 season.
Currently Belisle has a $4.25 million mutual option for next season. Rockies owner Dick Monfront values the leadership of Belisle even if his 4.32 ERA over 72 appearances was a step back for 33-year-old right hander.
Instead of simply picking up the option on Belisle the Rockies may try to work out an extension which would lower his salary in 2014 and give the reliever an additional year or two under contract.
