The Boston Red Sox are headed back to the World Series following a win in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series against the Detroit Tigers.

Shane Victorino put the exclamation mark on the night with a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning off of Tigers reliever Jose Veras which turned a 2-1 deficit into a 5-2 lead.

The Red Sox will be looking for their third World Series in the last decade (2004, 2008) when they meet the St. Louis Cardinals. Ironically it was the Cardinals that the Red Sox swept to win it all in 2004.

One year after a 69-93 record under Bobby Valentine, the Red Sox finished 97-65 under John Farrell this season.

Overall the Red Sox have seven World Championships and now 13 AL pennants. They will be looking for their eighth championship when the World Series begins Wednesday Oct. 23 in Boston.
