Jacksonville Jaguars tackle Luke Joeckel was carted off the field during the first quarter of Sunday’s 34-20 loss to the St. Louis Rams with what Jaguars coach Gus Bradley later revealed was a season-ending ankle fracture, according to NFL.com
Joeckel was moved to his natural position at LT as an experiment, but didn’t even last one quarter.
Joeckel, the second overall pick of April’s draft, was blocking on a run by Maurice Jones-Drew when a Rams player rolled up the back of his leg. Trainers worked on him for several minutes before the cart took him off the field.
It is a huge blow to the Jaguars who are now down to Austin Pasztor and Cameron Bradfield at tackle and just lost QB Blaine Gabbert last Sunday with a hamstring injury.
