Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado has been diagnosed with a torn medial patellar ligament in his left knee.
Machado, 21, was injured while running out a single on Tuesday.
The Orioles will be without Machado to finish the season but the good news is that he will be ready to go in 6-8 weeks which means he should be more than fine for the start of spring training. Oriole fans will breathe a sigh of relief knowning that Machado’s ACL and MCL are both intact.
Machado finishes the season with a .283/.314/.432 batting line with 14 homers, 71 RBI and 51 doubles.
