Derek Jeter’s season is over. On Wednesday the New York Yankees placed their shortstop on the disabled list with an ankle injury.
Jeter, 39, played in just 17 games this season hitting a dismal .190/.288/.254 with a home run and eight runs scored.
The last time Jeter played was on Saturday against Boston. He would leave that game after experiencing soreness in his left ankle.

Jeter has been battling problems with the ankle ever since he broke it during in Game 1 of the ALCS last October. It was surgically repaired later that month, but he fractured it again during spring training.
The Yankees made plans to move on from Jeter this season when they acquired Brendan Ryan from Seattle on Tuesday. Ryan, 31, is renown for his glove but has struggled at the plate this season.
