A scan on the left ankle of New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter came back negative.

The results of the scan will be sent to Jeter’s surgeon, Dr. Robert Anderson, for a second opinion. The 39-year-old Jeter has been dealing with soreness in the ankle and was forced from Saturday’s game.

Jeter is hitting .190 with one home run and seven RBI though 17 games.

With three straight losses to the Red Sox the Yankees are now 11 back in the AL East but are only three games back for a Wild Card spot.
