The Buffalo Bills are preparing as if Jeff Tuel will start their season opener against New England.
Tuel, 22, is an undrafted rookie and could become the first undrafted rookie to start since 1967 according to Eilas.
The Bills still hold up some hope that E.J. Manuel will be able to play in the Sept. 8 game against New England. Manuel, the No. 16 pick in the 2013 Draft, is dealing with a knee injury.
Further problems have hit the Bills at quarterback after Kevin Kolb suffered a concussion which could be career ending. The Bills are still planning to have Kolb undergo tests but will not rush him back to the playing field.
The Bills added Matt Leinart and acquired Thad Lewis from Detroit on Sunday.
Tuel spent four seasons as a quarterback at Washington State but scouts have questioned the strength of his arm.
