Felix Jones on Eagles roster bubble

Felix Jones may be at the end of his NFL career.

The former first round pick of the Dallas Cowboys struggled last year when thrust into full-time duty and now may fail to earn a roster spot with divisional rival Philadelphia.

Jones, 26, has little left in the tank and Jimmy Kempski of Philly.com speculates that his “career might be over.”

As has seemingly been the case in his career Jones also dealt with a hamstring injury this preseason.

If you think it is crazy to think Jones could be out of the NFL consider this.

Jones averaged 6.5 yards per carry over his first two seasons and broke five runs for 20 or more yards in 2009. In 238 carries over the last two years he has managed only five runs over 20 yards while his average dropped down to 3.6 last season.

Then there is the case of Marion Barber. While Jones did not have the amount of success that Barber did in his time in Dallas the bruising Barber lasted just one season out of Dallas before fading out of the NFL at the age of 28.
