The Atlanta Braves place placed infielder Ramiro Pena on the disablied list with a right shoulder injury prompting the recalling of Paul Janish.

Pena injured himself on June 9 but attempted to play though the pain. He has not played in a game since June 16.

Janish was batting just 207/.285/.244 this year with Triple-A Gwinnett but the Braves value his glove as it can cover multiple infield positions. Last season Janish hit .186 in 55 games with Atlanta.

Over parts of five seasons the 30-year-old Janish owns a .216/.286/.291 career line.
