The DuPont Pioneer 250 was delayed a day but in the end it was Trevor Bayne who found victory lane. It was quite the Honeymoon for Bayne who got married on Tuesday.
Rain caused a cancellation of the race on Saturday night prompting it to begin at 9:00 am local time in Iowa. Austin Dillon began the race on the pole in the No. 3 Chevrolet and would lead a race which featured a lot of clean racing early.
Ryan Blaney was filling in for Joey Logano in the No. 22 car and he quickly made his way up though the field while Trevor Bayne also made headway in his No. 6 Ford.
Alex Bowman would make contact with Brian Vickers on lap 155. The contact would also collect Travis Pastrana and Max Papis. While debris cleanup was underway rain began falling on the track. A red flag was displayed shortly before 12:30 pm ET with Austin Dillon in the lead. After 65 minutes the race resumed.
Michael Annett would lose control of his car hitting the inside wall. Annett would spin again trying to catch up to the field. Dillon and Bayne would battle for the lead in the closing laps with Bayne taking the lead with 11 laps to go.
The win is the second in the Nationwide Series career, his first since winning at Texas in 2011. It is also Ford’s 200th win in the Series.
After crossing the finish line Bayne screamed “I should of got married a long time ago.”
