This is the pitcher the Cleveland Indians hoped to have acquired when they traded for Ubaldo Jimenez. On Saturday against Tampa the 29-year-old put on a impressive show.

Jimenez threw eight scoreless innings whiles striking out seven as the Indians cruised to a 5-0 win. Tampa Bay managed just four hits and a walk against Jimenez who threw 72-of-108 pitches for strikes.

In Jimenez’s last seven starts he has been one of the best in the majors compiling a 2.74 ERA and 45/16 K/BB ratio in 42 2/3 innings.

Notes:

Jason Giambi hit his fifth home run of the season in the second inning. Not to be outdone, Asdrubal Cabrera hit his fifth in the fifth. Both home runs were two-run shots. Giambi also singled in a run in the third.
