A day after the Orioles called up Kevin Gausman to face the Blue Jays their AL East opponents will turn the tables. Toronto will promote left-hander Sean Nolin to face the Orioles on Friday.
Nolin, a sixth-round pick in 2010, will be making his major league debut.
The Blue Jays prospect gained some headlines last year after he went 10-0 with a 2.04 ERA across two minor league levels. This year Nolin was 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA in three starts for Double-A New Hampshire.
Nolin was ranked as the fourth best Blue Jays prospect by John Sickles in his annual offseason rankings.
J.A. Happ was placed on the 60-day disabled list to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Nolin while Darren Oliver was placed on teh 15-day disabled list to clear a spot on the active roster.
