San Diego Padres outfielder Carlos Quentin did not take too kindly to being hit by a pitch from Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke. Quentin charged the mound and after a benches clearing brawl the Dodger pitcher was left with a broken left collarbone.
Things did not end there though.
Los Angeles Times reporter Dylan Hernandez tweeted that after the face-to-face confrontation, Kemp told Quentin, “We’ll see, b!tch.”
Kemp was wearing a three-piece suit and black leather backpack during the postgame fracas, which was caught through the lens of Associated Press photographer Lenny Ignelzi.
Police eventually separated Kemp and Quentin but the two teams start a three game series in Los Angeles on Monday.
“I think Carlos Quentin went to Stanford, something like that?” Kemp told reporters after the game, which the Dodgers won, 3-2. “I heard there’s smart people at Stanford. That wasn’t too smart. Greinke didn’t do anything wrong. That stuff happens in the Minor Leagues. It doesn’t happen in the big leagues.”
Dodger manager Don Mattingly was upset after the game too saying that the charging of the mound “was just stupid.”
