Gordon Beckham left Tuesday’s game with wrist irritation. Further tests have revealed that the White Sox second basemen has a fractured hamate bone in his left hand.
Beckham will miss six to eight weeks according to Dan Hayes of Comcast SportsNet. While Beckham is away the White Sox figure to move Jeff Keppinger over to second base while Conor Gillaspie takes over at third.
The injury occurred when Beckham fouled off a pitch against the Nationals on Tuesday. Beckham was hitting .316 in 19 at-bats this season.
One other White Sox note: Bullpen coach Bobby Thigpen will take over as pitching coach for the White Sox as Don Cooper continues to recover from diverticulitis in a Virginia hospital.
Cooper will miss the rest of the White Sox road trip.
